Cleaning Methods
We offer three primary methods of injector cleaning - In-the-tank cleaning, On-the-car cleaning, and Professional off-the-car cleaning. Each method has its unique advantages and disadvantages. Let's examine each one more closely:
In-the-tank Cleaning
Advantages:
-
It is the most inexpensive method, ranging from $2 to more than $25.
-
It's quite simple to use, and anyone can do it.
Disadvantages:
-
There is a potential risk of damage to injectors, seals, O2 sensors, and catalytic converters due to the harsh chemicals used.
-
It cannot identify issues like leaking injectors, weak springs, poor spray patterns, or other problems.
-
No parts are replaced, and you have no way of knowing their condition.
-
It's impossible to accurately determine if all the injectors have been thoroughly cleaned or how well they function.
On-the-car Cleaning
Advantages:
-
Faster results than the in-the-tank method due to using undiluted cleaner.
-
It is good for cleaning the tops of intake valves.
Disadvantages:
-
Greater risk of harm to injectors, seals, O2 sensors, and catalytic converters due to the higher concentration of harsh chemicals.
-
It can often dislodge particles that build up under the filter and allow them to clog the injector tip.
-
No parts are replaced, similar to the in-the-tank method.
-
It is more expensive, ranging from $45 to $150+.
Professional Off-the-car Cleaning
Advantages:
-
Each of the injectors is tested for coil resistance, leaks, spray pattern, and flow rate. They are tested side-by-side for an accurate comparison.
-
The ultrasonic cleaning solution used is safe and biodegradable. The cleaning is primarily done by the ultrasonic energy, not the solution itself, thus not harming the injector's internal seals or coil windings.
-
New parts such as o-rings, filters, and pintle caps are installed.
-
At $22 per injector, it's roughly the same cost as the on-the-car cleaning method.
-
You are provided with before and after cleaning test data.
Disadvantages:
-
Injectors have to be removed from the car and taken in or sent to an injector shop.
-
It costs more than a can of in-tank-cleaner.
